One Direction, often abbreviated as 1D, was a globally celebrated British-Irish pop boy band formed in London in 2010. Comprising Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and formerly Zayn Malik, the group quickly rose to international superstardom after finishing third on the seventh series of the British singing competition The X Factor.
